Yakushima monkey | ヤクシマザル
Did you know Yakushima has its own subspecies of monkeys?
The Yakushima monkey (or Yakushima macaque) is an endemic subspecies of the Japanese macaque found in mainland.
屋久島にはサルの亜種がいるのをご存知でしょうか？
「ヤクシマザル」は、本土で見られる「ニホンザル」の固有亜種です。
In Yakushima, you can see the monkeys in their natural environment. Especially if you visit the Seibu Rindo Forest Path, but also by trekking through the forests, and occasionally even in the middle of towns. ^^
屋久島では自然な環境の中で「ヤクシマザル」を見ることができます。「西武林道」を訪れる場合はもちろん、森の中をトレッキングしたり、時には町の中を歩いたりしているときも見かけます。^^
It’s fun to suddenly be found by monkeys while travelling around, so look forward to it when visiting Yakushima!
