One of the favourite photo spots at Yakushima Senvus Village is in front of the “Karakuri Water Mill”.
「屋久島センバスビレッジ」では、「からくり水車」の前が人気の撮影スポットになっています。
The “Karakuri Water Mill” takes an important part in Yakushima Ohzora High School’s “Rice Paddy Relay”, as it is used for the polishing of the rice cultivated by the students.
屋久島おおぞら高等学校の「リレー水田」では、生徒たちが栽培したお米の精米に、「からくり水車」が活躍します。
When looking at the pictures, you can be reminded of the importance of this watermill in the production of ancient rice. その写真を見ていると、この水車が古代米づくりに重要な役割を担ってきたことを、改めて実感します。
