Unattended sales stand | 無人販売所
In Yakushima, it is common to see this kind of stand selling vegetables and fruits called “無人販売所 (mujinhanbaijo)”.
屋久島では、野菜や果物を無人で売る「無人販売所」をよく見かけます。
These sales stands are unattended, the products are left alone with the price written on a sign, and a moneybox for people to leave the money for the things they take.
無人販売所には人がいないので、商品は、値段を書いた紙と、代金を入れるための箱と一緒に放置されています。
You can actually find them across Japan, specially in the countryside; but that time I was surprised by the rare fruits it had: Monstera and Papaya.
こういった無人販売所は日本中、特に田舎で見ることができますが、屋久島では「モンステラ」や「パパイヤ」といった珍しい果物を売っていたので驚きました。
