Sea turtles are visiting Yakushima to lay their eggs | ウミガメが産卵のために屋久島を訪れています

It’s nesting season for sea turtles in Yakushima!
屋久島は、ウミガメの産卵の季節を迎えています！

From around May to July, Yakushima’s Nagata Inaka Beach receives the visit of the loggerhead turtle and the green turtle, who come to lay their eggs.
屋久島の「永田いなか浜」には、5月頃から7月にかけて、「アカウミガメ」と「アオウミガメ」が産卵に訪れます。

During nesting season, the beach is closed at night, and it can only be observed with guided tours to ensure the safety of the turtles. The non-profit organization “Yakushima Umigame-kan” does research and different activities to protect the beaches and sea turtles.
産卵の時期には、ウミガメの安全を確保するため、砂浜は夜間閉鎖され、ガイド付きツアーでしか観察できません。NPO法人「屋久島うみがめ館」では、砂浜とウミガメを守るための調査やさまざまな活動を行っています。
