Mt. Mocchomu | モッチョム岳
Mt. Mocchomu is a granite formation with the summit located inside Yakushima’s World Heritage Site protected area.
モッチョム岳は花崗岩からなる山で、山頂は屋久島の世界遺産区域の域内です。
With only 940m high, Mt. Mocchomu is actually one of the steepest and most strenuous hikes in Yakushima. The trail starts from Senpiro-no-taki Waterfall’s parking lot, and on the way to the top you can find a large variety of plants and insects, a cedar tree thought to have around 3000 years old called Bandai-sugi, and amazing views.
標高940メートルのモッチョム岳に登るのは、実は屋久島で最もハードな登山の一つです。
登山道は千尋滝の駐車場からスタートし、途中には多種多様な植物や昆虫、万代杉という樹齢約3000年と言われる屋久杉、素晴らしい景色などが見られます。
From the top of the mountain you can see the town of Onoaida, the coastline and the Pacific Ocean far out.
山頂から、尾之間の街、海岸線や遠くの太平洋まで見渡せます。
While taking a walk around the Jomon rice fields on Yakushima Senvus Village, you can see Mt. Mocchomu on the background of the Karakuri water mill and the “Celebration 100” topiary monument, as if it were watching over us.
屋久島センバスビレッジの「縄文水田」の周りを散歩すると、「カラクリ水車」と、「セレブレーション100」というモニュメントの背景に、見守ってくれているようなモッチョム岳を見ることができます。
