Lilium lancifolium | オニユリ
Another beautiful flower you can find at Yakushima Senvus Village is the Lilium lancifolium.
In English, it is known as the Tiger Lily, because its orange petals with black or dark brown dots resembles the skin of a tiger.
屋久島センバスビレッジでは、他にも「オニユリ」という美しい花を見ることができます。
英語では 「タイガーリリー（虎百合）」 と呼ばれますが、それは、オレンジ色の花びらに黒色や褐色の斑点があり、虎の皮膚に似ているからです。
In Japanese, it is known as Oniyuri (Ogre Lily), since the shape of the flower reminds of a red ogre.
日本では、花の姿が「赤鬼」を連想させることから「オニユリ（鬼百合）」と呼ばれています。
Tiger lily -オニユリ（Oniyuri）
This type of Lily it’s native to Japan, China, Korean Peninsula and far east Russia. The stem can grow up to 150cm, and the faintly scented flower blooms every year from June to July.
オニユリは、日本、中国、朝鮮半島、ロシア極東部に自生しています。茎は150 cmの高さまで成長し、毎年6月から7月にかけて、ほのかな香りの花を咲かせます。
Tiger lily -コオニユリ（Koniyuri）
You can see these beautiful flowers while taking a walk around our Jomon Rice paddies. ^^
縄文水田を散策しながら、これらの美しい花を見ることができます。^^
*Oniyuri and Koniyuri belong to the same genus Lilium lancifolium, but Koniyuri grows slightly smaller flowers and doesn’t produce bulbils.
＊オニユリとコオニユリは同じ種類ですが、コオニユリの花はやや小さく、ムカゴを作りません。
