Kinkan | キンカン
One of the organically grown fruits you can find at Yakushima Senvus Village is the kumquat, a fruit native to China.
「屋久島センバスビレッジ」で、完全無農薬で栽培されている果物の一つに、中国が原産とされる「キンカン」があります。
The Japanese kumquat (or kinkan in Japanese) is a small orange colored citrus fruit, that is usually harvested during winter. It is actually an ideal fruit for the season, considering its richness in Vitamin C.
「キンカン」は、オレンジ色の小さな柑橘類で、通常は冬に収穫されます。ビタミンCが豊富なので、この季節にぴったりの果物です。
The kinkan has a sweet and sour flavor, and due to its soft skin, it can be eaten whole. Or it can also be made into jam, compote, or other various ways.
「キンカン」は、甘酸っぱくて、皮が柔らかいので丸ごと食べられます。ジャムやコンポートなど、色々な食べ方があります。
