Kigensugi: a Yakusugi you can see from the road | 紀元杉：車で行ける屋久杉

A little bit further up from Yakusugi Land’s entrance, you can also find the Kigensugi (紀元杉).
『ヤクスギランド』の入り口から少し登ると、「紀元杉（きげんすぎ）」があります。

The Kigensugi is the only yakusugi (Yakushima’s cedar trees that are over 1000 years old) accessible by car. You can actually see the top of the tree from the road, but to get a better look at it you need to go down some stairs.
「紀元杉」は、車で行くことのできる唯一の「屋久杉（樹齢1000年を超える屋久島の杉）」です。　実際に道路から木のてっぺんを見ることができますが、よりよく見るには階段を下りる必要があります。

It is 19.5 meters tall, and estimated to be 3000 years old!
高さは19.5メートルで、推定樹齢は3000年です！Standing in front of it you feel so small, and you might wonder, who is going to be staring at this tree in the same way as you, 3000 years in the future.
