About the volunteers who came to Yakushima from overseas.
To date, 66 volunteers from 28 countries have come
from overseas for “Yakushima Senvus VIllage”
using the “Workaway.info”.

“Workaway.info” is an information matching site
for the purpose of intercultural exchange.
Instead of providing meals and accommodations,
they help with a few hours of work per day,
helping each other and interacting.
At “Yakushima Senvus Village”, they experience natural farming,and at “Ykakushima Ohzora High School”,
they interact with students through classes and outdoor activities and enjoy cross-cultural experiences.
The deep experience that you can’t experience
just by sightseeing seems to be attractive.
Thanks to this, the students of Yakushima Ohzora High School are able to interact with people from all over the world in different cultures and learn various ways of thinking.
「屋久島センバスビレッジ」には、”Workaway.info”を
利用して、これまで28か国、66名ものボランティアが
海外から来てくれています。

“Workaway.info”とは、異文化交流を目的とした
情報マッチングサイトの事で、“ホスト”が食事と宿泊所を
提供するかわりに、”ボランティア”に1日あたり数時間程度の
仕事を手伝ってもらい、お互い助け合い、交流する仕組みです。
「屋久島センバスビレッジ」では、自然農法を体験したり、「屋久島おおぞら高等学校」では、生徒と授業やアウトドアを通して交流し、異文化体験を楽しんでくれています。
単なる観光では味わえないディープな経験が魅力のようです。
そのおかげで屋久島おおぞら高等学校の生徒達も、
世界中の人たちと異文化交流ができ、様々な文化や考え方を
学ぶ機会となっています。
